Man, I am so excited to start carving my own designs. I love fabricating by hand, and the possibilities and limitations of the method have definitely influenced my designs for the better I think, but carving in wax just seems like freedom! There are just so many more possibilities! Right now I sort of feel like I'm caught in 2D and when I can start using wax carving and casting I will break free into 3D. Does that make sense?

And it's in my size, so I plan on keeping it for myself.

Hey Justine,
Congratulations on your new studio space! Does it have running water? That would be so helpful.
I had a thought: I think you should contact Sundance Jewelry. I think your work fits in there *so* nicely. Cheers, Barbara
I'm so happy that you are taking the jump and getting your studio out of your LIVING quarters! Congrats on all the future plans too! Carving is awesome! Hope Gunter and Dieter love the new digs too!
Will you be selling out of your new studio space? My husband and I will be in Portland for our third annual honeymoon and I'd love to "happen to be in the neighborhood" and just "fall in love with one of your pieces" that he would have to buy me. :)
Hi Barbara,
Yes, there is a sink in the bathroom just outside the door. So that is working thus far. It would of course be better if there was one right inside the space, but beggars can't be choosers! I think I might actually do the sundance thing once I get my casting up and going. :-)
Cheers!
Justine
Hi Beth Ann,
Thanks! I am so happy about it too! It's just a relief to have a space that is just for work and not have to be "at work" 24/7. Of course I'm still trying to figure out how to work in pug time during the day, since they need to go to the park at least twice (of course!).
Can't wait to start wax carving, so if you have any tips they would be much appreciated!
Justine
Hi Linda,
I don't actually have a retail space as part of studio. I also don't keep much stock on hand, most of my jewelery is made to order. But you are more than welcome to fall in love with one of my pieces on Etsy! ;-)
Thanks for stopping by!
Justine
I already have and it sits proudly at the top of my favorites list. I just like to bring presents home from trips we take and would have loved one of your pieces to accompany me home :)
Hi Linda!
I just put two and two together! We convoed yesterday about the moss quartz double band ring, right? :-) it would be really easy to add the third band, so just let me know. :-)
cheers,
j
Good workspace makes ALL the difference! Can't wait to see some casting pieces and it would be awesome to see your work in Sundance!
