December 17th...

my babies made their reluctant entrance into the world.  We ended up having to evict them, after waiting until 39 weeks (their actual due date was the 22nd...I was so worried about them coming early.  HA!).  Which, with twins, is a ridiculously long time to be pregnant.  I'm glad we ended up inducing though, since another week in utero probably wouldn't have been the best for my little girl. Her placenta was a lot smaller than his and her cord was narrower.  I don't think I've ever been so upset by anything as I was by her birth, which (to me) was traumatic.  She ended up needing almost a week in the NICU, which was incredibly upsetting.  But she came home just 3 days after the rest of us, and everything is better now.  It's been a bit crazy with the two of them, but mostly good.  They are adorable!  And so tiny (7lb 1oz, 6lb 5oz)!  I'm really excited for them to get nice and fat!

Congrats! They are adorable and a lot bigger than my 9 month old was at birth (5.10) full term so i am amazed that twins could be a good solid weight, yay! i am so glad that they are healthy and am sorry your little girl had to be in the NICU :( i hate when deliveries are complicated, i had an emergency c/s with my oldest and it traumatized me too. But everything seems to work out the way it's supposed to. Congrats again on the babies, they really are adorable!!

p.s. can't wait to hear what you named them :)

They are beautiful, Bean! So tiny and so perfect. You look great, Mama! I can't even imagine how you felt with 12lbs of baby....no doubt you were ready! They were just nice and cozy. Love them to pieces and take tons of pictures. They change so quickly in the first year.
Love,
Beck

Thanks everyone! I'm just so glad that that part of the motherhood experience is over and done! I'm starting to get a little distance from it and that is a good thing. Now I won't have tears welling up whenever I think about it. :-) I'll still wince though, when I think of the vacuum assisted birth of baby A.

They are already changing changing changing! Before I know it they will be in school. Sniff. I never thought I would be a big sentimental emoter (I'm more of a Spock girl...less of a Captain Kirk, if you know what I mean), but this whole mom thing has really softened me right up.
